West Melton Bowling Clubs Coaching Page

Although we have resident Coaches any club member will be more than willing to help new players:

Coaches Profiles:

Bill Paekau: Started his bowling career at Bowls Woolston between 1995 to 2009 and enjoyed coaching new players and juniors from 2001 to 2009. His philosophy is to ensure all new members are relaxed and he stresses that the main point is to have fun. He joined West Melton Bowling Club in 2010, helped new players and junior's and won the Mens' Singles in the 2010-11 season. Bill has been an active Malvern Junior Selector and before each outing, he gets all the selected players together as a training run to help understand all players strength and weakness and how to correct each item in an effort to build a stronger team. Bill decided to take a sabbatical for the 2018-19 season and spend more time with family and grandchildren. He is a valued member of our club and has helped dozens of bowlers to achieve more than they thought they could do with the bowl. Hooray Bill's back for the 2020-21 season.

Ron McNicholl: Started playing bowls in 1989 with Hornby Domain (now called Bowls Hornby). He played there for 20 years and won 10 club titles. Ron transferred to West Melton Bowling Club in 2010 and has had considerable success in the local competitions as well as the Malvern Championships. Ron has offered his services to our club to assist in coaching as he particularly enjoys helping new bowlers. His phone number is in the club's phone list.

John Waller: Joined the WMBC in 1993, his first and only club. After 5 years as junior, he decided to become a coach and umpire in order to put something back into the game that he enjoys so much. John became an Accredited Coach in 1998 and an Accredited Umpire in 1997 and International Umpire in 2005.

He has won all the club titles, both singles and team games, during his 25 years at WMBC. He enjoys coaching and derives great satisfaction from seeing the people he has coached playing so well later in their bowling careers. John is always happy to offer help at any time. His phone number is in the club's phone list.
